I had a fantastic experience with CostaLuz. It's been a long journey, I first contacted them in February 2023 asking some questions about Spanish visas. Costa Luz’s email response time is currently 2-4 working days. I have found this to be very difficult to work with. My advisor can only be reached by phone 10:30-3:30 CET, which is in the middle of the night for me in my current timezone. At this point I am unsure I would recommend their immigration services.

Have had a very positive experience in my dealings with Costaluz Lawyers. Have been battling since 2007 to get my deposit returned on a property in Spain. The developer never fulfilled their build obligations and we were left facing a barren resort. Went through two lawyers and was advised by one of them to “forget about it” as I had little chance of recovering my deposit. Then came across Costaluz and although it has been a painstaking process we got there in the end and over the last few months we recovered both the principal amount plus an annual interest charge of 4% plus some of the legal costs (had to appeal part of the original court decision and legal costs are not covered under appeal). So here we are 15 years later with our money back plus interest. Well done Maria and team! I have used the services of Costaluz Lawyers a number of times, all related to tenancy agreements. Most, if not all, speak good English. They are very approachable, always responding to telephone and email queries. Their fees are very reasonable. It matters not that their name suggests they operate only on the Costa Luz. They operate equally on the Costa del Sol.

Maria spent a number of years chasing our deposit from 2005 for a house we were buying off plan that was never built. We had no way of ever retreiving our money without her as no one was owning up to having our money. She not only got our deposit back to us but she fought for interest too. We have now received the interest albeit a few years after but she managed over the years to get our money returned with a little on top.

NONE OF THE OTHERS WERE LISTENING In december 2017 my next door neighbour at the time was being evicted from his villa where he had lived without title deeds since 2006 as were four of our neighbours . The builder had gone bust leaving 180,000 euro mortgages on each of the villas,eleven years earlier and the BBVA had called to reclaim them. . My neighbour was in bits the morning he was evicted,and this is where the first thank you comes in to Eye on Spain forum because this is where i found Costa Luz Lawyers and all about the Spanish Supreme court 2016 ruling on bank guarantees. My next door neighbor listened to me that dreadful day in December 2017 ,and we contacted Costa Luz Lawyers. The result thanks to Maria Carmen,Maria Castro and Keith Rule is after four and half years, through appeals and everything La Caixa could throw at us we came through recovering the deposits lost ,interest over 15 years, and court expenses. At this point you might be wondering what happened to the other four neighbours, None of the others were listening they employed other solicitors who went down a different path,i regret to say all they got was a 35,000 euro bill.Thank you Costa Luz Lawyers you really are a top team.

We put a deposit on a Spanish property back in 2006 in Palomares, Almeria Province. It was never completed on time, then it never got its correct paperwork so we asked for a refund. We hired some other lawyers who turned out to be as crooked as the developer, who by then had sold the property to a third party. We had done everything correct, we already owned a property in Spain so were not ignorant of the system, and we felt a moral duty to pursue it. Our last throw of the dice was Costa Luz. They didn't over exaggerate our chances but did advise that we might have a claim against the bank (which too had been taken over) for not renewing the Bank Guarantee. Several years down the line, we were told that we had won a court case - a case we didn't even know was going ahead. After that there was a statutory wait for an appeal, which never happened. Costa Luz's charges were very fair. Every single thing was itemised, from their parking charges to the Barrister and they paid out quickly. An extra bonus was that we were not expecting the interest repayment, which, after 16 years, was a real surprise. Thank you so much Maria, Keith and team.

My Wife and I paid a large deposit to a developer in Estepona in Spain who, after 1 year beyond our promised completion date they failed to deliver. We took them to Court and won the case and their appeal. The developer declared himself to be bankrupt. Having pursued our case for another 10 years, we were put in touch with CostaLuz lawyers. In 2009 I purchased or did not purchase in the end a lovely off plan apartment in Murcia, Spain. I was to pay the deposit in three stage payments then the balance upon completion. I struggled to get a Bank Guarantee for the first payment, did not get one for the 2nd payment and my solicitor per my instruction retained the 3rd stage payment. To cut a long story short, it did not happen, it was not built as licences were not obtained etc. etc. I was so very stressed and worried. My solicitor was really not on the ball and I lost the 2nd stage payment. She did not give me much hope in going to court for this either. I was in contact with Maria of CostaLuz Lawyer who I found on Eye on Spain. She was so very helpful answering many of my questions over a number of years. Time passed, then one day she informed me that the courts were now looking more favourable on people who had lost money on Off-Plan properties like myself and that they CostaLuz Lawyers were now doing No Win No Fee. I took some time deliberating, should go ahead, which I did probable a further couple of years down the line. I was told by Keith Rule one of Maria’s colleagues to be patient as it could take up to two years, I had a couple of emails letting me know what the situation was and when the court case would be and that was pretty well it. Until, 9th October 2020 out of the blue I received an email from Maria to say they had received my money and could I send my bank details. What a surprise. Yes, they had of course taken the agree percent, but I still had a good lump sum. Then a few days later I received another email informing me that they had claimed court cost and interest and could I sent my bank details again. Amazing, Christmas, Birthdays all rolled into one. I contacted Maria / Costaluz in 2008 regarding my off plan purchase. Having looked at the case they stated I would have a 95% chance of recovery.
